Nothing interesting ever happened in the suburban neighborhood where I grew up, until one day I saw a car drive by that was shaped like a hot dog on a bun.

That car was one of a fleet of what the Oscar Mayer company called wienermobiles. They were, and still are, driven around the United States, obviously for the purpose of promotion.

Miniature wienermobiles were eventually sold as toys, and I bought one that now lives in my studio. It keeps company with several Mr. Potato Heads and a few Gumbys.

I’m just starting to learn how to paint in both oils and watercolor. This is my first watercolor painting, and as I learn more, there will be more to come.
